NFTY Camp Car is a program that partners with Cooke Magnet Elementary School in Waukegan, IL to give underprivileged kids an amazing weekend long summer camp experience at OSRUI. Throughout the year, there is fundraising and volunteering with the school and with other programs in efforts to raise money for this program, and the result is an amazing opportunity for kids who may not have one otherwise. At OSRUI, campers will experience the full package deal: music, hiking, arts and crafts, cooking, etc., all for free. Each staff member at Camp CAR raises the money in order to send each camper to the program without them paying a cent.
Personally, I have the amazing opportunity to go to overnight camp each summer, this year being my sixth. I have had so many positive and inspiring experiences at camp throughout my life, and I am proud to be working with Camp CAR as a counselor this spring to give kids the chance to experience what I have. We have three counselors coming from Emanuel this year: Isaac Manesis and Paili Bachrach, who both were counselors last year, and now myself. We are working together to raise the money to send three campers to Camp CAR where we will guarantee they have an amazing time.
If you would like to help out to give campers the amazing experiences I and so many have had, go to https://chicago.nfty.org/camp-car/. Once there, there is a box to leave a comment giving your gift in support of someone, where you can help us reach our goals by writing Emanuel Teens. Isaac, Paili and I would like to invite you to our Spaghetti Dinner fundraising opportunities on 2/20, 3/20, and 4/24 to raise money, each from 5:00-7:00 pm at Emanuel. Thank you so much for your support and contributions, and feel free to ask any of us about the program if you see us!
