Welcome New Members!
Thank you for expressing interest about membership at Emanuel Congregation.
While we are proud (we hope justifiably so) of Emanuel, we are not yet all we may become. Perhaps and prayerfully, your participation will allow us to get closer to the goal of a true community of seekers and service. We would love to have you join us.
Emanuel Congregation was founded in 1880 by fourteen German and Czechoslovakian families, and today Emanuel is a 400 family vibrant congregation on the north side of Chicago. We are a Reform Congregation, with a strong commitment to the Jewish tradition that serves as a foundation for our daily lives.
We are dedicated to worship, learning, and social interactions within our diverse membership, and we work hard to be a truly welcoming place. We value every person who passes through our doors because we know that our community is strengthened by the perspectives and experiences of all of us. From generations- long members to interfaith couples to gay/lesbian families to new members, we know that each one of us is an integral part of our Emanuel family.
Being a member of a congregation carries both privileges as well as a financial obligation to the rest of this community endeavor. As a new member, you can join at an introductory rate or elect to pay full dues to help others who truly need help with dues payments. However, no one is denied membership because of an inability to pay full dues; and each case is considered on an individual basis. Dues relief forms or any questions can be obtained in confidence by contacting Synagogue Director Elizabeth Cohen (ecohen@emanuelcong.org) or Rabbi Michael Zedek (rabbizedek@emanuelcong.org). For any questions you may call Emanuel @ 773.561.5173.
We look forward to having you as a member of Emanuel Congregation!
